Surface-Mounted Closer Installation

Here are the different ways that we install your surface mounted closer:

• Top Jamb Mounting – We mount the closer onto the doorjamb with the shoe installed on the front of the door. The arm is then perpendicular toward the door opening. We usually install it this way when there is a swing door that closes on the inside.
• Track Arm Mounting – The closer is installed on the front of the door and its track arm is installed onto the doorjamb. We can do this on swing doors and swing doors that swing out.
• Parallel Arm Mounting – Here is where we install the closer on the front of the door with the shoe mounted onto the jamb of the door. This makes the door arm parallel to the door opening. This is typically how we install a surface mounted closer. You will experience less damage when it is applied in this manner than if it were installed perpendicular.
• Regular Arm Mounting  - The closer is situated on the front of the door with the shoe mounted onto the jamb. This means that the opening of the door will be perpendicular to the arm.
